Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) Guide

Updated July 2026

Quick summary

Sea-Tac is a single central terminal with concourses A–D and two satellites (N and S) reached by an underground train — all airside. The Link light rail runs right to the terminal, reaching downtown Seattle in under 40 minutes for about $3.

Terminals at SEA

SEA operates from one central terminal building with four concourses — A, B, C, and D — plus two remote satellite terminals, the North Satellite (N gates) and South Satellite (S gates). Concourses A through D are all walkable from the central terminal and from each other airside. To reach the satellites you ride the Satellite Transit System, a free underground automated train that stays airside, so you never re-clear security to get to an N or S gate. Alaska Airlines is the dominant carrier and uses Concourses C and D plus the North Satellite; Delta has a large presence in Concourse A and the South Satellite, which handles most international departures. The airport is compact by hub standards, and even a satellite transfer is usually quick.

🚆 Getting to & from the airport

The Link light rail (1 Line) is the easy way downtown: the SeaTac/Airport station sits at the north end of the garage, connected by a walkway, and reaches downtown Seattle (Westlake) in roughly 38 minutes for about $3 one-way. Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) pickup is on the 3rd floor of the parking garage (rows G–J) — follow signs across the skybridge from baggage claim rather than waiting at the curb. Taxis and app-based vans also stage on the garage levels, and door-to-door shuttles, hotel vans, and regional buses (to Tacoma, Bellevue, and beyond) load on the ground transportation islands outside baggage claim. The free Cell Phone Waiting Lot on S. 170th St has about 200 spaces with Wi-Fi for pickups.

🛋️ Lounges

SEA has a deep lineup of lounges. Alaska Airlines runs three Alaska Lounges — Concourse C (near C16), Concourse D (near D1), and the North Satellite mezzanine. Delta anchors Concourse A with two Delta Sky Clubs plus a Delta One Lounge for premium international flyers. American Express operates a Centurion Lounge on the mezzanine level of the Central Terminal for eligible cardholders. For Priority Pass, there are two Club at SEA lounges — one in Concourse A (near A12) and one in the South Satellite (near S9, which adds shower facilities). Because concourses and satellites are airside-connected, you can generally reach a lounge in another area without leaving security.

📶 Wi-Fi

Free unlimited Wi-Fi covers the airport — connect to the 'SEATAC-FREE-WIFI' network and accept the terms. No time limit.

😴 Layovers & overnight

SEA is manageable for long layovers because every concourse and both satellites stay airside, linked by walkways and the free underground Satellite Transit System, so you can roam for food and seating without re-clearing security. The Central Terminal's food court and the busy C/D concourses have the widest dining. For overnight stays there's no hotel inside security, but several hotels sit a short walk or free-shuttle ride away, and a couple are directly accessible near the terminal. If you're sleeping in the terminal, the Central Terminal and main concourse areas offer seating, though the airport is not formally 24-hour for landside pre-security areas.

Insider tips

  • The Link light rail (~$3, ~38 min to downtown) beats a rideshare in Seattle traffic and drops you right at the terminal via a garage walkway.
  • Rideshare pickup is on the 3rd floor of the garage (rows G–J), not the curb — cross the skybridge from baggage claim.
  • All concourses and both satellites are airside-connected, so use the Satellite Transit System train freely without re-clearing security.
  • Off-airport lots (from about $13/day with free shuttles) undercut the ~$32/day garage for longer trips.
  • The free Cell Phone Waiting Lot on S. 170th St has Wi-Fi — have your pickup wait there instead of circling.
